Hammond-spiced powerjazz with the vibe of Tarantino movies, classic westerns and vintage vinyl. Young Dutch band with international appeal.
BRUUT! has taken off like a rocket: their extremely danceable, hammond-spiced power jazz catches on everywhere, from North Sea Jazz and popular Dutch talkshows to nightclubs in Londen, Tokyo and Burkina Faso. The young Dutch band has a raw sound that recalls the vibe of Tarantino movies, classic westerns and vintage vinyl. Eye-catcher is rising star alto sax player Maarten Hogenhuis, who has performed at the Bimhuis in the bands of Reinier Baas.
The new album Superjazz will be released on the very day of the concert and the Bimhuis concert will be the kick off of the Superjazz tour.
‘BRUUT! is a rowdy company that scoffs at the rules and formalities of the jazz scene. BRUUT! makes brutal jazz out of juicy boogaloo and fat rhythm & blues’ (de Volkskrant).
Maarten Hogenhuis altsax, Folkert Oosterbeek hammond, Thomas Rolff bas, Felix Schlarmann drums
