Jamie Peet
Dutch drummer Jamie Peet has become a leading presence on both the Dutch and European jazz scenes and is widely regarded as one of the most sought-after drummers of his generation. His remarkable versatility, combined with a distinctive musical voice, has made him a fixture in countless bands and projects; it is almost impossible not to have encountered his playing somewhere in recent years. Peet belongs to a new generation of musicians who seamlessly blend jazz, hip-hop,classical music and electronics. He has performed extensively with artists and groups such as Jameszoo, Niels Broos, Y-OTIS and Dolphin Hyperspace. Internationally, he has toured with Gregory Porter, Kris Bowers, Sasha Berliner and Seamus Blake.
REFLEX: Daily New Beginning
With REFLEX: Daily New Beginning , the spotlight is on Peet himself for the first time: his musical vision, his compositions and his artistic voice. In September 2025, BIMHUIS Productions invited him to record his debut album and present the music aspart of the REFLEX series. His music is inspired by the concept of shoshin, or “beginner’s mind”, a principle from Zen Buddhism that encourages approaching each day with humility, openness and curiosity, regardless of one’s experience or accomplishments.
Peet explains: “I believe in symbiosis: in the way differences can support and strengthen one another. When individual voices truly listen to each other, space emerges for something new. That is where the power of this band lies for me. At a time when divisions seem to be growing, I find it important to search for what connects us. It is a great honour to have Ben van Gelder, Joel Ross and Pat Cleaver as part of my quartet. Notes on paper are only the beginning; it is their interpretation that truly brings the music to life.”
