Ziv Ravitz ‘No Man Is An Island’

Will Vinson alto sax, Nir Felder guitar, Ziv Ravitz drums

Early 2019 sees the release of No Man Is an Island, the album on which drummer Ziv Ravitz will be the principal composer. He turned 40 quite recently — time to offer his own vision, based on his experiences as an international jazz musician and world traveler: everyone is connected and if you have the courage to step out of your comfort zone you can create something wonderful together.

Ziv Ravitz, born in Israel and based in Brooklyn, New York, has an excellent reputation as a drummer with famous trumpet and saxophone players such as Avishai Cohen, Mark Turner and Lee Konitz. For years he has formed a trio with saxophonist Will Vinson, who will now hand over the reigns to the drummer, in their trio with guitarist Nir Felder.

‘A drummer of fervent energy and inventive interplay, Ravitz freely blends elements of jazz, world music, avant-garde, and rock. His complex, fluid grooves and shifting textures conjure the sound of multi-percussionists wielding an endless sonic palette’ (Modern Drummer).
