The violins sound like rhythm guitars, the cello plays propulsive bass lines and the solos seem like they are being taken by horn players; Zapp 4 is a string quartet with the aura of a band, zapping between classical music, jazz and rock. The group has played everywherefrom the Concertgebouw to the Lowlands festival. The group’s latest CD Radiohunter features all original compositions by its four members for the first time. With each track Zapp 4 enters a new sonic world, from poetic and lyrical to raw and earthy. ‘The swingingest string quartet in The Netherlands’ (NRC).
