New dimensions of Indian music are revealed by the famous tabla player Zakir Hussain and his group Masters of Percussion, featuring young Indian virtuosos.
Tabla player Zakir Hussain is considered the main ambassador of Indian music since the passing of sitar master Ravi Shankar in 2012. Hussain keeps traditional music alive, but at the same time he does not avoid combinations with various western forms of music. Together with Masters of Percussion he presents a range of rhythmic and melodic Indian ragas – music based on improvisations.
Hussain has added a new chapter to his already impressive career with the foundation of Masters of Percussion. He formed this group of outstanding young Indian musicians in order to discover new dimensions of Indian music. In his virtuoso tabla improvisations Hussain can veer into directions like folk, classical and contemporary music.
