YURI HONING ACOUSTIC QUARTET

Yuri Honing tenorsax, sopraansax, Wolfert Brederode piano, Frans van der Hoeven bas, Joost Lijbaart drums

Saxophone player Yuri Honing sees jazz as a language open to influences from all over the map. He works with pop singers, orchestras, dance producers and masters of Arabic music. He regularly returns to acoustic jazz. He started his career in Michiel Borstlap’s quartet and won an Edison for his collaboration with Paul Bley. In his new improvisational quartet he once again plays with an exceptionally talented pianist, Wolfert Brederode. ‘From note one you know that saxophonist Honing has ‘got it’ and that tone can cut through your soul’ (The Independent).
