YPF PIANO COMPETITION JAZZ 2007 FINALS

In collaboration with Insinger de Beaufort, the Young Pianist Foundation organizes its first piano competition for young, talented jazz pianists. Creative director of the YPF, Marcel Baudet: ‘The special thing about the contest is that only young talents in the age of 13 – 27 years can participate. They each play three pieces, contrasting in character and time of which one original composition and one work for solo piano. In two of the pieces participants are allowed to be accompanied by bass and/or drums’. The finalists of the competition are: Dimitar Bodurov, Pablo Gutierrez Calvo, Gideon van Gelder, Rein Godefroy, Cesar Latorre Trabanco and Walter Wolff. The winner will be given the opportunity to record a CD for the Gramercy Park Music label including worldwide distribution. The jury consists of: Lodewijk Bouwens, Michiel Borstlap, Guus Janssen, Enrico Pieranunzi, John Taylor, Bobo Stenson and Wouter Turkenburg.
