The Young Pianist Foundation (‘YPF’) presents the first European edition of the YPF competition from 10 to 20 February 2022: the YPF European Piano Competition – Grand Prix Youri Egorov. In February 2022, the eighth competition of the YPF will take place in Amsterdam. Artistic director is pianist and composer Thomas Beijer. The international jury consists of: Severin von Eckardstein (DL), Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden (BE), Edith Fisher (CL), Nino Gvetadze (GE-NL), Hannes Minnaar (NL), Ronan O’Hora (GB, non-voting chairman), Hanna Shybayeva (BY) and Malcolm Singer (GB). At stake is a first prize of €15,000 and a prize package that includes other cash prizes in addition to a series of (inter)national masterclasses and concerts.

The quarter- and semi-finals of the YPF European Piano Competition 2022 will take place from 10 to 16 February 2022 in BIMHUIS. The candidates all play a predetermined repertoire that consists of compulsory works but also of a free choice. 24 participants will participate in the quarterfinals. These participants were selected from a group of 48 applicants from 19 different countries. The selection was made by the pre-selection jury on the basis of submitted video recordings. The playing schedule and repertoire per participant for the quarter-finals will be announced shortly.

Eight participants advance to the semi-finals. These young pianists ‘compete’ on Wednesday February 16 in Het Bimhuis for a place in the Final that will take place on Sunday afternoon February 20 in Muziekgebouw. Tickets for the Final and the special evening prior to the final day (‘A tribute to Youri Egorov’, concert by members of the international jury and laureates of previous editions of the YPF competition on Saturday evening 19 February) can be ordered at Muziekgebouw.
