YOUNG VIPS TOUR: ROGIER TELDERMAN & VINCENT HOUDIJK

Vincent Houdijk and Rogier Telderman are this year’s Young VIPs, the most promising talents composing original music according to programmers of Dutch jazz clubs. The VIPs will present their own bands.

Each year the programmers of leading Dutch jazz clubs select the Young VIPs, the most promising jazz talents composing original music. They will be allowed to go on tour. In 2016 the Young VIPs are vibes player Vincent Houdijk with his quintet VinnieVibes and pianist Rogier Telderman with his trio.

Vincent Houdijk has developed his own vibraphone style with the help of famous mentors such as Frits Landesbergen and Mike Mainieri. His energetic band VinnieVibes celebrates the release of their live recording Vortex on CD/DVD. ‘Houdijk’s powerful compositions are brought to life in a powerful way. Each piece stimulates the imagination’ (JazzFlits).

Rogier Telderman is being praised for his lyrical, energetic piano playing. His compositions are strongly narrative and have ‘a compelling personal quality and the ability to grab a hold of the listeners immediately’ (Jazzenzo). The classically trained pianist, who’s also a member of the TEMKO ensemble, plays in his trio with double bassist Guus Bakker and drummer Tuur Moens.
