Young Jazz Society is a new big band from Utrecht made up of 18 young musicians who distingusih themselves through their original, refreshing take on contemporary big band music. This year, the Young Jazz Society will perform a repertoire aimed at Japanese jazz, led by Willem Friede (New Cool Collective)¸

Expect a hyper-energetic performance with both compelling big band arrangements of Japanese music, as well as original compositions by Willem Friede, inspired by Japanese culture. There will be a special focus on Joris Posthumus’s acclaimed album Tokyo’s Bad Boys, for which he has collaborated with a fantastic band from the jazz scene of Tokyo.
