YOON-JEONG HEO & TORI ENSEMBLE
Composer Yoon-Jeong Heo is one of the main innovators of Korean music. In her solo performance on the geomungo, the Korean zither, she interprets ancient ritual music in a contemporary way. In the Tori Ensemble her trio meets three free spirits from the New York jazz scene: reed player Ned Rothenberg, cello player Vincent Ségal and percussionist Satoshi Takeishi. ‘An astounding performance, with the effect of a profound journey across centuries of culture’ (Washington Post).
The concert will be introduced by Dong-Won Kim, teacher in Korean traditional music, composer and musician. He will give a lecture on Korean musical traditions.
