XAM XAM POETRY FROM SENEGAL

A visual concert, based on the poetry of Leopold Sédar Senghor: poet, philosopher and ex-president of Senegal – also a much respected hero of independence in all of Africa. The texts of Senghor inspired pianist and composer Thijs Borsten to create this concert. Vocalist Mola Sylla wrote new work that will be adapted in English by De Hartog and in Wolof by himself. Video images amplify the poetry and offer a view on today’s Senegal. ‘A special production with vocal interactions that are breaking new grounds, supported by a very good and experienced band.’ (de Volkskrant).
