40 YEARS OF BIMHUIS SESSIONS, LED BY JASPER BLOM
DOUBLE TRIO ANNIVERSARY JAM
Special edition of the Tuesday evening session at the Bimhuis. Session leader and tenor saxophonist Jasper Blom will perform all night with many well-known guest musicians.
Tuesday night’s regular session at the Bimhuis is led by sax player Jasper Blom. The 40th anniversary of the Bimhuis is a good reason to go out on a limb with a special Double Trio Anniversary Jam: Blom formed a super trio, which will be challenged by the young savages of the Maarten Hogenhuis Trio.
As one of the most versatile Dutch tenor players, Jasper Blom has performed with jazz legends as well as soul heroes. He made name with his own quartet featuring guitarist Jesse van Ruller. For this anniversary session he formed a trio with double bassist Ernst Glerum and drummer Joost Patocka. ‘Jasper Blom is one of the most fascinating composers in The Netherlands. His music is fresh, accessible and exciting, with odd time signatures all over the place’ (Volkskrant).
Rising Star on alto saxophone Maarten Hogenhuis celebrates success all over the world with power jazz formation Bruut!, which will perform at the Bimhuis later this year. He has performed here already in the bands of Reinier Baas and this summer his trio played a concert in the well-attended series Bimhuis At Felix & Foam. Hogenhuis is ‘a guy with a strikingly mature performance and headstrong ideas,’ according to De Volkskrant in a four star review.
The Bimhuis restaurant
is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via

entrance).
