Who’s the Bossa is an encounter of six musicians with a shared passion for contemporary Brazilian music: singer Josee Koning, pianist Hans Vroomans, the Italian cello player Daniel Pezzotti and guitar player Nelson Faria, bass player Alfredo Paixão and drummer Kiko Freitas from Brazil. Aside from original compositions by bassist Alfredo Paixão they play undiscovered gems by Milton Nascimento, Hermeto Pascoal and Moacir Santos. Josee Koning has received praise in both The Netherlands and Brazil for her velvet timbre. She played in the group Batida with Vroomans, who also accompanied Trijntje Oosterhuis. Pezzotti is the cellist of choice of opera singer Cecilia Bartoli and has toured with Hermeto Pascoal. Guitarist Nelson Faria and drummer Kiko Freitas formed the Nosso Trio with bassist Ney Conceição, accompany great Brazilian artists and are part of João Bosco’s band.
