With his spiritual, hypnotic and versatile work the Polish clarinet player Wacław Zimpel has evolved into one of today’s most exciting clarinet players. His music touches on minimal, (free) jazz, improv and electronic music. Alongside clarinet he also plays various organs, often powered by complex electronica, as well as exotic instruments from, among others, Laos, India and Eastern Europe.
Zimpel is one of the driving forces behind the creative, fertile Polish jazz and improv scene. He plays in a multitude of projects including Indian orchestra Saagara, and he forms a duo with drummer Klaus Kugel. He’s also a rising star in the world of progressive electronic music, with performances at festivals such as Unsound in Krakau and Rewire in The Hague.
