Annual festival for new electronic music

The Viral Radio Festival at the Bimhuis opens with Dutch guitar-drums-electronica-Casio-duo Knalpot; their Bimhuis gigs created a buzz and since then they have been causing havoc at cutting-edge European music festivals. DJ/producer Ras G from Los Angeles crosses boundaries with deep bass lines and beats, influenced by label mate Flying Lotus and Sun Ra’s afro-futuristic jazz. British duo Darkstar, the top act of leading label Hyperdub, brings fresh wind to the dubstep scene.
The French artist and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Bastien will replace the British trio Darkstar. Pierre Bastien is a regular at performances of Squarepusher, and published music at Rephlex, the label of Aphex Twin. The live acts are alternated with sets by Viral Radio DJs Juha and Cinnaman.
PLEASE NOTE! LINE-UP CHANGE:
The French artist and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Bastien will replace the British trio Darkstar in the Bimhuis during this second day of the Viral Radio Festival. Due to family reasons Darkstar had to cancel their performance. They will play the next Viral Radio evening, Friday 14 January 2011.

VIRAL RADIO FESTIVAL 2010
The Viral Radio Festival is an annual event for live electronic music, from Hyperrhythm to Turbo Soul. The festival is held at TrouwAmsterdam and Bimhuis.
Viral Radio is an Amsterdam based platform that presents and stimulates contemporary electronic music at the junction of beats, dubstep, hip-hop, ambient and jazz. The collective was founded in 2007. The name Viral Radio is a metaphor for the way new forms of electronic music are distributed via unofficial channels and social media like SoundCloud and Ustream.
Aside from the festival Viral Radio presents a radio show at VPRO’s 3voor12, as well as a monthly club night at Trouw. Viral Radio has presented successful programmes at North Sea Jazz and the Exit Festival in Serbia.
On September 2 the Viral Radio Festival presents a night in the TrouwAmsterdam venue with Ikonika, The Gaslamp Killer and Gonjasufi.
