VINICIUS CANTUARIA

Vinicius Cantuaria-guitar, vocals, Michael Leanhardt-trumpet, Paul Socolow-bass, Paulo Braga-drums, Marivaldo dos Santos-percussion

Vinicius Cantuária worked with superstars like Caetano Veloso (who turned his ‘Lua e Estrella’ into a worldwide hit), Chico Buarque and Gilberto Gil. In 1994 he moved from Rio de Janeiro to New York where he, like Arto Lindsay, started to blend sambas and bossa novas with jazz and experimental rock. But unlike to Lindsay he doesn’t let these elements clash, his music is sweet, intoxicating and eccentric in a pleasant way.
