Brazilian singer-songwriter Vinicius Cantuaria creates the typical, slightly intoxicating, form of samba and bossa nova popularized by Tom Jobim and Caetano Veloso, for whom he wrote the global hit, “Lue e Estrella.” Cantuaria worked with superstars such as Gilberto Gil and Chico Buarque, as well as admirers David Byrne and Arto Lindsay, both of whom he met in New York, where he now lives. Influenced by the city, Cantuaria increasingly shows his eccentric and experimental side in his songs.
