Pianist Vijay Iyer represents the future of jazz; he has been voted both Rising Artist of the Year by Downbeat and Musician of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. Challenging rhythms are commonplace among young jazz musicians, but Iyer has a masterful command, thanks to his Indian background and his interest in electro and hip-hop.
