Verneri Pohjola has made his mark all over the world as an outstanding trumpeter, an magnetic performer and a composer with a knack for writing lasting melodies. The recently released Monkey Mind is his fourth album on the famous British label Edition Records. On this record he juxtaposes electronic experimentation and expressive improvisation with pure tonal beauty.

‘Finland’s most emotionally intelligent trumpet player’, is how Verneri Pohjola was described in the leading Finnish daily Helsingin Sanomat. ‘A player and composer who listens to his inner voice.’ with his albums Aurora (2011) and Ancient History (2012) on the ACT label he made a name for himself in Europe and America as well. In his current band he plays with, among others, Danish double bassist Jasper Høiby, known from the successful trio Phronesis.
