PRESENTATION CD TALES WITHOUT WORDS

Miguel Boelens sopraan-/altsax, Mete Erker tenorsax/basklarinet, Morris Kliphuis hoorn/cornet, Joost Buis trombone/ lapsteel, Corrie van Binsbergen gitaar, Albert van Veenendaal piano, Dion Nijland bas, Yonga Sun drums

Energetic all-star band with no less than eight singular Dutch musicians
brought together by guitarist Corrie van Binsbergen. ‘Individuality,
bravura and adventurousness are crucial’ (JazzNu).

With
Vanbinsbergen Playstation, Corrie van Binsbergen picks up the threads of
her instrumental earlier bands. The time was ripe for this all-star
formation, after more than fifteen years dominated by concerts with
literary writers, film soundtracks and other large-scale projects. The
guitarist/composer gathered a group of no less than eight musicians. The
band already performed at North Sea Jazz Festival and was nominated for
the Edison Audience Award 2016.

At the Bimhuis the band presents
the album Tales without Words, a concept album based on compositions
written by Van Binsbergen for her literary concerts. The result is a
mysterious album with layered, narrative compositions to which the
musicians add their own content.

‘The four wind players deliver
fireworks, while Van Binsbergen produces one shimmering, singing solo
after the next from her guitar’ (Draaiomjeoren).

‘Dazzling
arrangements, with multiple layers of wind instruments and breathtaking
solos by, among others, Morris Kliphuis and Joost Buis’ (Jazzenzo).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
