Veenendaal/Kneer/Sun present a fresh approach to the classic jazz line-up of piano, double bass and drums. All partners are equal, the piano is no longer automatically the centre of attention, composition and improvisation merge organically allowing the pieces to constantly take on new shapes. “They combine the adventurousness of an improvisational group with the subtlety of a classic chamber music trio and the fierceness of a rock band.” (Jazzflits). In 2005 Michiel Braam wrote a series of songs for two different bands: his well known acoustic trio with Wilbert de Joode and Michael Vatcher and a new electric trio with a 70s touch in which he plays a Wurlitzer piano with bassist Pieter Douma and drummer Dirk-Peter Kölsch, both with backgrounds in rock, impro, New Orleans-funk and singer-songwriter. “Gorgeous and the umpteenth new direction taken by the musical jack-of-all-trades Braam!’ (Jazzenzo).
