VAN MERWIJK’S MUSIC MACHINE & THEODOSII SPASSOV

Theodosii Spassov-kaval, Stormvogel-piano, Reno Steba-bass, Lucas van Merwijk-drums, Martin Verdonk-percussion

Bulgarian Theodosii Spassov, here last month as guest performer with Tarhana, is an absolute master of the kaval (shepherd’s flute). He single-handedly introduced it into the world of jazz and went on to develop it even further. Percussionist Lucas van Merwijk, the driving force behind such formations as the Cubop City Big Band and Nueva Manteca, asked Spassov to sit in on the latest edition of his Music Machine. The internationally much sought after percussionist Martin Verdonk (whose collaborations include work with Richard Bona, Prince, Steve Winwood) has played with Van Merwijk for years. The rest of the group is rounded off with pianist Stormvogel and bassist Reno Steba. after the show 23.30h free admission DJ PHILIPPONA Jazz Lost & Found Dance till late to hidden treasures & crazy grooves in vintage music.
