Drummer, percussionist and band leader Lucas van Merwijk has been in the forefront of European Latin and jazz for 25 years. He has performed Cuban music with such large ensembles as Cubop City Big Band and Nueva Manteca, as well as in more intimate settings with Music Machine. This year he joins forces with Cuban piano master Ramón Valle, trombone player and Thelonious Monk Award winner Ilja Reijngoud and the talented Surinamese double bassist Adinda Meertins. They will play their imaginative arrangements of such Cuban classics as La Comparsa and A Mi Que.
