ULTRA HIGH FLAMENCO (UHF)
FLAMENCO BIËNNALE NEDERLAND
Pablo Martín-bass, José Quevedo ‘Bolita’-guitar, Alexis Lefèvre-violin, Ángel Sánchez Cepillo-percussion, Paquito González-percussion
Five musical friends take a different approach to flamenco. Strings and percussion, that is UHF. The wealth of flamenco rhythms are given plenty of room in which to improvise in this new flamenco jazz project by musicians who have played together for years as members of the bands of guitarist Gerardo Núñez, and pianist Chano Domínguez, or who played with such guitar greats as Tomatito and Vicente Amigo. Ultra High Flamenco is ‘flamenco free style’. A quintet making use of the grammar of flamenco as the endless source of permutations in their own compositions. A group bound by the same musical intensity, imaginatively and passionately exploring the boundaries of the genre. A go-as-you-please ticket for the entire programme (afternoon + evening) on 2 November in the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and Bimhuis costs € 62. Box office and Bimhuis café open at 7.30PM.
