PRESENTATION VPRO/BOY EDGAR PRIZE TO FERDINAND POVEL

For forty years Ferdinand Povel has remained one of the best and most in-demand saxophonists in The Netherlands. This has everything to do with his crystal clear and, at the same time adventurous style of improvising. This year he will receive the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize for his achievements as a soloist, as well as his efforts as a teacher; Povel has trained and inspired a remarkable legacy of saxophone players. ‘Povel is a refined stylist who links his wide open sound to a fluent, melodic approach to soloing’ (jury’s report of the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize).

Tickets: reservations by phone only from may 9 at 3PM through the box office of the Bimhuis: 020 – 788 21 88. Only a limited number of tickets is available. The Bimhuis restaurant will be closed this evening.
