For this special occasion Yuri Honing has compiled a program with his own Acoustic Quartet, his electric band Wired Paradise and guest performances that include Belgian pianist Jef Neve and Puerto Rican singer/guitarist Gabriel Rios.

From the jury’s report:
Yuri Honing shows great musicality, expertise and craftsmanship. He is creative, inventive and his work is aimed at pushing boundaries and opening up new horizons. During the jury’s deliberations, Yuri was described as an enabler (…) He realizes ideas that find a life of their own, that become examples for others and that sprout potentially new traditions. Yuri is a staunch opponent of pigeonholing music. He has not bound himself to one specific style or movement (…) He seeks collaboration with musicians from Arabic music, pop, classical and dance, while jazz remains his main point of reference. He has the ability to realize his artistic goals in a convincing way, showing perseverance and cultural entrepreneurship.

VPRO Radio will broadcast the full program (until 1:00) live on Radio 6 and via vprojazzlive.radio6.nl.

Tickets for the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize ceremony will be available from April 25 via the Bimhuis website and box office. Please note that tickets are for sale only, it is not possible to make reservations for this concert.
