TWENTYTWENTYONE LAPTOP QUARTET

(students € 10) i.c.w. Holland Festival

Arturas Bumšteinas, Antanas Dombrovsky, Lina Lapelyte, Vilius Lys-laptop

It is generally known that (portable) computers, after turntables and all kinds of electronic sound effects, found their way to the stage as mature musical instruments. But a laptop foursome, young musicians sitting around a table as if they are a classical string quartet, is unique. Twentytwentyone from Lithuania brings, as their name gives away, a repertoire from the 20th and 21st Century. With their own interpretations of known and lesser known graphic scores and graphic art works that inspire their sound, the electronic quartet already made an impression on stages in Vilnius and Warsaw. Naturally, those art works of James Tenney, Viking Eggeling, Cornelius Cardew, Herbert Brün, Arturas Bumšteinas and Robert Smithson will be projected during the concert. Program: James Tenney: Having Never Written a Note for Percussion (1971) Viking Eggeling: symphonie diagonale (1924) Cornelius Cardew: Treatise (1963-1967) Robert Smithson: Heap of Language (1966) Arturas Bumšteinas: Archive (2007)
