TRIO M – MYRA MELFORD/MARK DRESSER/MICHAEL SARIN

Trio M is a leaderless group, consisting of prominent American soloists. The three musicians are a perfect match and inspire each other with compositions that serve as a basis for physical, adventurous improvisation. The percussive playing of pianist Myra Melford resembles boogie woogie and relates to classical and Eastern music at the same time. Double bass player Mark Dresser is a master of extended techniques, while drummer Michael Sarin (replacing Matt Wilson during this tour) has a free, abstract sense of swing. ‘Theirs is improvisation so empathic, they seem of one mind’ (New York Times).
