TRIO 3: OLIVER LAKE, REGGIE WORKMAN, ANDREW CYRILLE

Oliver Lake-sax, Reggie Workman-bass, Andrew Cyrille-drums

With Koen Kaptijn-trombone, Gijs Kramer-viola, Saartje van Camp-cello Iannis Xenakis (composer, architect, mathematician) was one of the most important and innovative composers from the 20th century. The power of his original music lies in the combination of complex, microscopical structures, monumentally large shapes and extremely expressive contents. The program is: Dikhthas (violin, piano), Evryali (piano), Keren (trombone) en Ikhoor (violin, viola, cello). These compositions can also be found on the album Béton Armé that will be presented tonight. The also highly original Cor Fuhler (composer, pianist, inventor) was commissioned by Duo 7090 to compose a work that he called Doucheputje (Shower Drain). Tonight is also the premiere of this composition.
