TORD GUSTAVSEN TRIO

With their recently finished trilogy (released by ECM) this young and internationally renowned Norwegian trio proves that they enrich the usual qualifications of Scandinavian jazz, like ‘still, atmospheric and serene’, with a new dynamic. Influences of Scandinavian folklore, cool jazz, gospel, soul and Caribbean music determine the sound of this trio. Pianist Gustavsen (Oslo, 1970) describes his music as ‘a constant flow of possibilities for emotional-intellectual fulfillment in grooves, phrasing, melodies and timbre.’
