TONY MALABY’S TAMARINDO
FEAT. WILLIAM PARKER, NASHEET WAITS
Tony Malaby tenor sax/soprano sax, William Parker bass, Nasheet Waits drums
Three giants from the forward-looking New York jazz scene collaborate in Tamarindo. The eponymous CD signaled a breakthrough for saxophone player Tony Malaby. His melodic phrases on tenor and soprano sax set the tone for adventurous ensemble playing, from soft whispers to ecstatic crescendos. Drummer Nasheet Waits and double bassist William Parker offer a wide range of rhythms, looking far beyond the limits of what is considered jazz. ‘A high-impact free-form progressive jazz extravaganza brought to us by three hard-hitting heavyweights of the genre’ (Jazz Review).
