TOMASZ STANKO QUARTET

in collaboration with Tropentheater – Series ECM Artists in Concert

Tomasz Stanko-trumpet, Marcin Wasilewski-piano, Slawomir Kurkiewicz-bass, Michal Miskiewicz-drums

The introspective, soulful playing of Polish trumpet legend Tomasz Stanko is the result of an extremely divergent career. In the 1960s he was a pioneer of the European jazz avant-garde, while playing in the band of master pianist Krzysztof Komeda. He created film music for director Roman Polanski and collaborated with composer Krzysztof Penderecki. In the last fifteen years Stańko has released monumental albums with the Scandinavian record label ECM. ‘A spiritual and musical success’ (Downbeat).
