TOBIAS DELIUS QUARTET

Tenor saxophone player Tobias Delius grew up in England, won the VPRO/Boy Edgarprijs during his prolonged stay in Holland and currently lives in Berlin. His quartet has an unusual line-up, in which cello player Tristan Honsinger and double bassist Joe Williamson regularly bow their strings and Han Bennink continuously extracts quaint sounds from his drum kit. ‘This is one of Europe’s finest working groups… eclectic lines, delightful interplay and, quite often, ferocious swing’ (Downbeat). ‘Tobias Delius’ quartet… simply burned, leaving their audiences with dazed smiles and singed eyebrows’ (The Wire).
