Pianist Martin Tingvall has a knack for writing bright melodies that sound like they have always been around. His Tingvall Trio makes waves in Europe with energetic acoustic jazz. The contemporary grooves reveal the rock and hip hop background of drummer Jürgen Spiegel and the Cuban descent of double bass player Omar Rodriguez Calvo.

In their early days the threesome has often been compared to Esbjörn Svensson Trio (E.S.T.), the groundbreaking Swedish piano trio. Recent compositions by band leader and composer Tingvall appear darker and more cryptic than before.
