When the Rolling Stones are planning a tour, they call Tim Ries. For years the New York jazz saxophonist has been part of Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie’s entourage. When Ries decided to reinterpret classic Stones songs in the manner of jazz standards, he could count on an impressive network of artists for help. Contributors on the Rolling Stones Project CD include Norah Jones, John Scofield, Bill Frisell, Sheryl Crow and three actual Stones. Tonight bass player and Stones mainstay Darryl Jones joins Ries on stage, while Bernard Fowler performs vocal duties.
