TIM BERNE BIG SATAN

Not many musicians combine funk and intellect with an ease as alto saxophonist Tim Berne does. His compositions are, just like those of Steve Coleman and Anthony Braxton, restless and fickle. Big Satan, with which he released two CD’s on his own Screwgun label, is Berne’s trio with guitarist Marc Ducret who masters a range from jazz to progressive rock and heavy metal, and the clear and driving force Tom Rainey on drums.
