Speciale gasten: Yuri Honing tenorsax, Wolter Wierbos trombone, Oene van Geel altviool

About a year ago Theo Loevendie started performing once a month at Café Welling in Amsterdam. At the Bimhuis everyone can witness the unique ‘Wellingsound’ by composer/clarinet player Loevendie and his quartet plus guest musicians Yuri Honing, Wolter Wierbos and Oene van Geel.

The Wellingtonians were named after the old dive near the Concertgebouw, which since the 1970s has been a haven for renowned Dutch artists including Loevendie himself. His compositions form the guideline for his band, with lots of room for improvisation.

His orchestral and operatic works are performed all over the world. Furthermore, Loevendie is a pioneer of improvised music in The Netherlands and a founder of legendary jazz bands, including the Theo Loevendie Consort and his Quartet with Hans Dulfer, Arjen Gorter and Martin van Duynhoven.
