VPRO Jazz presents a weekend long survey of the contemporary state of Dutch Jazz and Improvisational Music. All concerts will be broadcast live on Radio 6 and can be viewed live via an internet videostream. Programming, Presentation and interviews: Vera Vingerhoeds. Clarinet player Theo Loevendie and pianist Guus Janssen have never played together in such a small line-up before. Both have made name as composers of contemporary composed music and as musicians in the field of improvised music. Tonight they will play with talented drummer Onno Govaert. At the age of fourteen saxophonist Lars Dietrich played a duo set with Herbie Hancock in the Dutch television show Masterclass. After his studies the young musician from Amsterdam moved to New York where he founded a quintet, The Story. His upcoming debut release features guest performances by David Binney and Ben van Gelder.
