THEO LOEVENDIE MEETS KRISTINA FUCHS SONIC UNIT

Theo Loevendie-soprano saxophone, Kristina Fuchs-voice, Jeroen van Vliet-piano, Florian Zenker-guitar, Gulli Gudmundsson-bass, Pascal Vermeer-drums

Composer Theo Loevendie heard the voice of Kristina Fuchs for the first time in November 2003 after which he immediately asked her for his new (classical) ensemble Ziggurat. By now, Fuchs is also involved in other projects of Loevendie like the ‘Six Turkish Folk Poems’ that she performed with ‘Das Neue Ensemble’ in March of this year. Her playful love for music stirred her curiosity about Loevendie’s ‘first’ career, that of being a jazz musician. How did he play, what did his groups sound like? She was drawn to the his old recordings and decided to do a Loevendie program with her Sonic Unit. Theo didn’t just think it was a wonderful idea but offered to play in it as well.
