The Visit

The Visit creates a fairytale-like soundscape that seems to tell us about early medieval times as well as about faraway galaxies. Young Canadian cello virtuoso Raphael Weinroth-Browne and singer Heather Sita Black present their highly acclaimed album Through Darkness into Light.

“Through Darkness into Light is five tracks of epic, haunting melancholia…” – Decibel Magazine

Raphael Weinroth-Browne creates exciting musical projects within all kinds of genres. Though trained classically, he and his group Musk Ox take up a remarkable spot in the metal world, and with his show The Visit, he will appear at Wave-Gotik Treffen, the biggest international Gothic festival in the world. On Sunday, October 21, he will present his project Kamancello at CELLOFEST, where he will play together with Kurdish-Iranian kamancheh grandmaster Shahriyar Jamshidi.

BartolomeyBittmann

When the Cello Biennale introduced the (at the time) completely unknown Austrian jazz-rock duo BartolomeyBittmann for the first time in 2016, something immediately became clear: this duo would become huge.

The energy, perfection, and virtuosity of cellist Matthias Bartolomey and violinist and mandola player Klemens Bittmann, and especially their own catchy jazz-rock compositions immediately won them the audience’s unconditional fondness.

And indeed, things moved quickly. They were immediately invited to Wonderfeel, and for Podium Witteman they played for a sold out hall in Carré. You could say they’ve outgrown Bimhuis by now. That’s how fast it can go.
