THE RIVER – THE SWIM SESSIONS

The River is the band of singer/songwriter, poet and professional dancer Lily Kiara. Three of her passions come together in the music of The River: folk-pop songs, improvised music and English-language poetry. In The River Kiara plays with illustrious improvising musicians from Amsterdam: trumpet player Felicity Provan, reedist Michael Moore and percussionist Alan Purves. English poet Julyen Hamilton has a special role in the group.
The Swim Sessions by The River depart from Lily Kiara’s songs, in which she accompanies herself on guitar. Special guest is Kira Wuck, author of the poetry collection Finse meisjes (Finnish girls, 2012). With this volume she won two prestigious Dutch poetry awards in 2013.
