Welcome

and diverse universe of creative musical practices in Amsterdam. The

every week, bringing the city back to life and celebrating adventurous
music all over town. Kicking off with two nights at the Bimhuis, Present
is Present will feature the latest cutting edge bands on the scene, a
guerrilla bicycle tour with outdoor concerts in public spaces, and late
night dancing to the wildest live music. A week long program takes you
on a voyage of discovery to exciting venues and music series –
Pintotonics, OT301, Mixtree, Zaal 100, De Tanker, OCCII, Space is the
Place – culminating in a sure to be legendary all-nighter at De Ruimte.
.The festival starts with two nights at the Bimhuis, in collaboration
with Doek. On Saturday: Felicity Provan 5tet, Nico Chientaroli solo and
Native Aliens. Check www.presentsoundsamsterdam.nl for more concerts.

Felicity Provan 5tet
Poetic
narrative and songs, lyrical melodies with rhythmic momentum best
describe the Felicity Provan 5tet. The music flows from solos to
quintet, featuring young talents and established names from improvised
music, including vocalist Han Buhrs.

Nico Chientaroli (solo piano)
Argentinean-born
pianist Nicolás Chientaroli has developed a very personal way of
playing, exploring and expanding the boundaries of the piano. He
recently released his first solo album Cada Fuego es el Primero, which
was recorded in Amsterdam and has been released by the Portuguese label
Creative Sources.

Native Aliens

The 8-piece group
Native Aliens improvises with elements of Brazilian popular music,
including rhythms such as maracatu, frevo and catira. Band leader and
saxophonist Renato Ferreira wrote compositions inspired by both European
and Brazilian composers, from Louis Andriessen and Alban Berg to
Hermeto Pascoal and Egberto Gismonti.

The festival starts with two nights at the Bimhuis, in collaboration with Doek.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
