The Ploctones are virtuoso musicians who don’t fall into the trap of self-centredness. This extrovert funk jazz quartet led by guitarist Anton Goudsmit tears the roof off, and jazz critics have taken notice. “Goudsmit’s compositions jump upon you like a pack of enthusiastic huskies,” says leading Dutch newspaper de Volkskrant about the CD Live op het Dak, which was made under the Goudsmit, Trujillo, Vierdag & Vink moniker. For the occasion the quartet is augmented with two like-minded musicians, trumpet player Sanne van Hek and pianist Harmen Fraanje.
