THE MORE SOCIALLY RELEVANT JAZZ MUSIC ENSEMBLE

presentation cd Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music

Ben van Gelder altsax, Maarten Hogenhuis altsax, Reinier Baas gitaar, Sean Fasciani bas, Mark Schilders drums

In The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble guitarist Reinier Baas brings together great talents from the Dutch jazz scene, including saxophone player Ben van Gelder. The compositions contain influences ranging from Ravel to Tristano and from Ornette Coleman to Flying Lotus. The unusual line-up with two alto saxophonists and the unstoppable pulse of the outstanding rhythm section form a solid foundation for experiment and improvisation. ‘An unaffected sound, bursting with pleasure. His soulful sound… conquers hearts’ (Volkskrant).

After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
