THE METROPOLE STRINGS FEAT. PIET NOORDIJK & RUUD BREULS

Piet Noordijk and Ruud Breuls play a selection of the classic jazz songs that Charlie Parker and Clifford Brown performed with string orchestras during the 1940s and 50s. Following ‘Bird with Strings’ and ‘Clifford Brown with Strings’ many famous jazz artists recorded albums with string sections. Following the traditions of Ben Webster, Billie Holiday and Chet Baker, the top Dutch soloists Noordijk and Breuls declare their love for the satin sound of orchestral swing. For this occasion they will collaborate with members of the Metropole Orchestra. Tonight the Bimhuis cafe-restaurant will be serving a buffet menu instead of its usual a-la-carte menu (euro 15, from 19 hours). Reservations recommended: 020-7882158.
