THE KLEZMATICS

Frank London-trumpet, keyboards, Lorin Sklamberg-vocals, accordion, guitar, Matt Darriau-clarinets, alto sax, kaval, Lisa Gutkin-violin, vocals, Paul Morrissett-bass, cymbal, David Licht-drums

After more than twenty years The Klezmatics have definitively outgrown the underground circuit; they were the first klezmer band ever to win a Grammy. Despite this the six New York musicians have never compromised their style. They still blend Yiddish party music with the widest range of elements, such as Arab, African and Latin rhythms, Balkan music, jazz and punk. On top of that the group dares to tackle sensitive issues like human rights and fundamentalism. ‘Powerful messages are framed in music that is consistently gripping, consistently far-reaching’ (LA Times).
