Soon after their first appearance together in 1987 as part of the Dutch festival Boulevard of Broken Dreams, The Houdini’s went on to take international stages and festivals by storm. The group became an ‘icon of Dutch jazz in the first half of the 90s’ (NRC Handelsblad). To celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band The Houdini’s present their all-time favourite pieces of music to an afternoon showing of Buster Keaton’s classic The General. This stunning, virtuoso silent film from 1927 is one of the highpoints of Keaton’s oeuvre. The music which the band composed for this film was inspired, among other things, by the work of Mary Lou Williams.
