Yet again The Ex has managed to bring the legendary Ethiopian saxophone player Getachew Mekuria to The Netherlands for a grandiose party. It remains a wondrous combination, the punk band from Amsterdam’s squat scene and the giant from Addis Abeba who has been playing for 65 years now. Still they manage to make everyone dance by pairing raw energy with seductive melodies. The Ex has traveled through Ethiopia many times, creating a lively musical exchange with The Netherlands. As usual they will expand the group, this evening with saxophonist Ken Vandermark from Chicago and Ethiopian dancers Melaku Belay and Meselu Abebay.
