The Cookers play in the tradition of hard bop, the explosive style that originated in the 1950s in response to the popularity of cool jazz. At the height of the hard bop revolution Blue Note released ‘Night of the Cookers’, on which Freddie Hubbard and Lee Morgan presented their propulsive playing. With The Cookers Bimhuis welcomes legendary American musicians who have kept hard bop alive and kicking throughout the decades.
